Lullaby: An Ode to Downtown Minneapolis.

I love downtown. The cavernous echoes off the sides of mountainous buildings. The cacophony of businesspeople chattering away on their Blackberrys, the whir and grinding of bus transmissions rising and falling each block, and the way the sirens intermingle between them from blocks away, until the ambulance passes hyperamplified by the sheets of metal and glass that surround us. The clop of heels on the cement, and the occasional clack-clack click-clack of a skateboard. The exhaust fumes and the smell of fresh cement, and the wafting smells from restaurants that can be found on every block. Fresh rain to wash it all away, and stifle those sounds and smells. I love downtown.
